Mama Drama: Monkey See, Monkey Do

Dear Mama Drama:
I have a question about my granddaughter who just turned five.  She literally copies every thing that every one of her friends or cousins does (Monkey See, Monkey Do).  She even copies things that other kids do even when she knows it is wrong!  We wonder that if one of her friends jumped [...]

Mama Drama: Surviving Children’s Electronic Overload

Dear Mama Drama:
My kids are always watching television and playing video or computer games. They fuss at me when I tell them to turn them off and do something else. They say everything else is boring. I’m exasperated and don’t know what to do to get them off of the electronics.

Mama Drama: Staying Connected to Our Kids

Dear Mama Drama:
My children and I are so busy. Between work, school, activities and life, I feel like I am just not connected to them like I was when they were little. How can I find time to stay involved in their lives?

Mama Drama: Sibling Sarcasm

Dear Mama Drama:
My sons have recently been very rude and sarcastic with each other. They are frequently putting each other down or making what I consider unnecessary negative comments about something the other one is sharing. They even do this thing where they say, “I don’t mean to offend you, but…” and they finish with [...]

Mama Drama: Potty Training On The Go

Dear Mama Drama:
My two year old is potty training and has moved into wearing “big girl panties.” I am freaked out about taking her out of the house because I’m afraid she’ll have an accident and will become too discouraged. How can I take her out and help her to be successful?

Mama Drama: Friendship Frustrations

Dear Mama Drama:
I have two sons who are very outgoing, but very unique. Both struggle with making lasting friendships at school and say that others seem to avoid them. They often blast in instead of joining into groups or repeat annoying behavior when they have been asked to stop. My oldest son does gross and [...]

Mama Drama: Articulation Angst

Dear Mama Drama:
My 4-year-old son has an extensive vocabulary but like a lot of kids, has a difficult time saying his “R”s and “L”s. When should I start worrying about getting him in speech and what can I be doing with him now?

Mama Drama: To Do or Not To Do

Dear Mama Drama:
I am so frustrated with my children because they are so oppositional. It seems like whatever I tell them they do the opposite. If I say don’t run, they run. If I say don’t hit you brother, they hit. If I say don’t forget your coat, they forget the coat.
They also don’t want [...]

Mama Drama: Sibling Birthday Blues

Dear Mama Drama:
I have two girls who are three years apart in age. My oldest daughter who is nine has a really difficult time handling it when it is her younger sister’s birthday. She is always excited about the party and getting her sister a present, but when the day arrives she loses it. She [...]

Mama Drama: Extreme Hair Pulling

Dear Mama Drama:
I am really worried about my son. He is three years old and has a really hard time handling frustration. When he doesn’t get his way or becomes frustrated with something, he starts pulling out his hair. He has done this so much that he has large bald spots all over his head.
I [...]
