Mama Drama: Bully Busting Basics

Dear Mama Drama:
My 5-year-old son is entering kindergarten and is the sweetest kid. He gets along with everyone but I fear he will be a target for bullying because he refuses to retaliate. What skills can I teach him to stick up for himself and as a mother, how should I react when kids are [...]

Mama Drama: Summer Break Blues

Dear Mama Drama:
My kids are getting out for the summer and I’m dreading the constant running them here and there and that I’m never able to get anything done. If I don’t schlep them to play dates or other activities they complain that they’re bored. I feel exhausted after these crazy days and then end [...]

Mama Drama: Tween Tension

Dear Mama Drama:

Mama Drama: Homework H-E-Double Toothpicks!!

Dear Mama Drama:
My nine- year-old daughter takes an excessive amount of time to do her homework every day. If she would just do the work, she would be done in thirty minutes to an hour. Instead, she whines, complains, cries, fights, distracts herself, etc., for hours on end. By the time she is done we [...]

Simple Pillowcase Dress for Easter

A friend recently sent me a photo of a beautifully made pillowcase dress for a little girl and asked if I might be able to duplicate the pattern. She’s expecting and, already having three adorable sons, is thinking she may be having a daughter this time around. If so, she’s anxious to adorn her in lovely dresses and [...]

Mama Drama: Jokester’s Painful Punchlines

Dear Mama Drama:
My ten-year-old son is always cracking jokes and thinks he is extremely funny. The trouble is that his jokes are usually at the expense of someone else. When people respond negatively to him, he acts like they are overreacting and too sensitive.
I think his has some sharp wit beneath the rudeness, but I [...]
