Win Dad a Family Vacation to YMCA of the Rockies!

If there is an affordable, fun family vacation that rivals YMCA of the Rockies, I’d like to know about it.
Since I moved to Colorado almost 10 years ago, we have had a family reunion and multiple trips to both of the YMCA of the Rockies’ Colorado locations.
As new parents with an irascible, insomniac toddler, [...]

Disney World: The Magical Land of Forced Fun

I’ve seen many helpful blogs here in the Mile High Mamas about tips for getting the most out of your trip to Disney World. And I’m just going to be upfront about this right now: This is not one of them. But I’m betting that if you’re planning on making the trip [...]

Cheers to SPF and Age-Perfected Anti Aging Serum

Human skin – it’s a funny thing. Of the many purposeful uses and all that the soft tissue must encounter each day, one might think we’d come equipped with full armor. But, no, we burn, bruise, puncture, bleed…wrinkle, freckle, splotch and sag.
As moms, the attention we give to protecting this fragile attribute of our children [...]

Is a Disney Cruise Right for You? The Ins and Outs

A couple of months ago, Bode, Hadley and I joined my mother-in-law Linda aboard the Disney Wonder to sail the Mexican Riviera and life has never been the same.
I mean, just look at this kid.
Since Disney Cruise Line’s inception back in 1995, I knew I wanted to take my children someday but I must confess, [...]

The circumcision decision should be left to parents

I have six sons. Circumcision has come up in conversation more than once.
I’m not going to share with the world if they are circumcised. The only thing I will say about the condition of their bodies is they are not all the same, nor do they need to be.
Foreskins are not Christmas sweaters. [...]

I used to dial a phone, and it would ring.

Growing up, we had a rotary dial phone. It was big and black and attached to the wall in the kitchen. In fact, my dad had built a special cubby for it in the wall, with a place for phone books on the shelf underneath.

It had a really long cord.

Tips for Feeling Disneyland’s Magic (and be sure to share your own)

I have figured out the “Magic of Disney.” It has nothing to do with Disneyland’s characters, rides, parades, shops or food. That magic has to do with how two children–completely overwhelmed, overheated and exhausted–can whine for hours about the conditions….
….and yet at day’s end forget it all and attest they had the most fun of [...]

Treading Water in the Dating Pool

Not once in my wildest dreams did I think I’d be back in the dating pool in my 30s.  If someone had predicted 5 years ago that I’d be looking for a new relationship I would have said there was a better chance that I’ll be trampled to death by elephants in my own home [...]

Thank you for throwing dirt!

Thank you for throwing dirt!

I attended my first Sox tee ball game this month and now have been to three.
I have to say, I have never laughed so hard.
The Sox’s second baseman is none other than my boyfriend’s 5-year-old nephew and when he is actually paying attention to the game he is pretty darn good.
The rest of the time [...]
