The Kid Blender: A Single Mom’s Attempt to Find Joy in an Unexpected Life
February 8, 2012 – 8:00 am | 3 Comments

In this series of blogs, the “Kid Blenders,” I will be addressing our challenges, trying to blend our two families together. The names of the children will be changed to spare the easily embarrassed. A Q&A with the real Santa

Turn a corner this time of year, and you’re sure to spot a man with a rather large belly. It might even shake a bit, like a bowl full of jelly.
Most likely, his eyes are twinkling, he’s sporting some great dimples, and his nose kind of resembles a cherry. (With all due respect to “A [...]

Movie review: Narnia sequel “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” finds exotic island adventure

*** STAR REVIEW | Fantasy
From their outset in 2005, the big- screen versions of C.S. Lewis’ “The Chronicles of Narnia” novels have had a particularly winning champion in the character of Lucy Pevensie.
Vividly portrayed by Georgie Henley, Lucy has embodied the franchise’s best qualities: its openheartedness, its loving grasp of the sibling bond, its celebration [...]

Cash Only, Please

I have a love/hate relationship with gift cards. When they first came out in the mid-1990’s, I thought they were the definitive answer to the weary and beleaguered, last-minute shopper’s prayers; an easy way to give a gift, in lieu of cash and still look semi-thoughtful. And, of course, to receive one was a ticket [...]

There. I said it. I don’t like holiday decorations.  Bah Humbug!  Not only that, I’ll take it a step further. I can’t stand holiday decorations. Would “hate” be too strong a word? I’m probably not going to make very many friends with this post today, but today’s post is about confessions, [...]

Courtyard by Marriott Opens Lobby Zone to Help Alleviate Holiday Traveling Stress

Between body-scan controversies and holiday crowds, Denver International Airport is not a happy place to be in December.
That’s why I was pretty darn excited to hear that the Courtyard by Marriott is making your wait at DIA a little less awful with the Lobby Zone. Located in Concourse B, by gates 15 and 16, this [...]
