February 8, 2012 – 8:00 am | 3 Comments

In this series of blogs, the “Kid Blenders,” I will be addressing our challenges, trying to blend our two families together. The names of the children will be changed to spare the easily embarrassed. Denver Deal: Michael’s, Lowe’s, Qdoba, CarePilot and more

I was recently offered the opportunity to take my kids to The Uber Sausage located on Colfax and Detroit. I have to admit I am absolutely an adventurous eater – but I was not really sure what to expect from a place called the Uber Sausage. But I went. I honestly LOVED the place and [...]

Eldora Mountain Resort’s Epic Weekend & Deals for Families

With last weekend’s snow storm, Eldora Mountain Resort was THE place to ski.
Unfortunately we weren’t the only ones who figured that out.
I couldn’t fault the hoards of people because in terms of proximity (just 21 miles from Boulder, 45 miles from Denver) and new snow (31 inches in 48 hours) this small, unassuming resort delivered [...]

No longer do you have to order your cookies and then wait to have them delivered. You can get them immediately!  (Now that my daughter has already [...]

Denver Deal: St. Julien Spa Deal, Free Day at Denver Zoo, & Wendy’s Frosty Jr.

I love winter. I do a happy dance when it snows and I love to be outside. I love taking the kids to the things that I call uniquely Colorado. How many other places can you be skiing or snowboarding in less than a half hour (Echo Mountain is just 35 minutes from downtown), decide [...]

Ok, gut check. How are you doing on the resolutions you set out on New Year’s Eve? Hopefully well – and hopefully just this mention of them is not a painful reminder to *ahem* get started.

Thrifty-minded Highlands Ranch shopper shares her savings ideas

For Highlands Ranch resident Jennie Sanford, “couponing” is a verb and an avocation, saving her up to 90 percent on her grocery bill.
But here’s where her story veers from the well-trod path of extreme couponers: Sanford, whose day job is in banking, uses her extra freebies and pennies-on-the-dollar purchases to help others.
In 2009, when a [...]

Colorado Family January Ski Deals

I understand that January is one of the best months for snow and skiing in Colorado. January is also Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Many of the resorts let kids under 5 ski for free (check with each resort individually) – but maybe they have not yet learned HOW to ski (or snowboard).  So where [...]

Denver Deal: Celebrate New Year!

There used to be a jingle from a TV commercial that my sister and I sang. It went something like “everything you wanted, you didn’t get for Christmas – is on sale now at SEARS.”  While, I can’t honestly say I am a big Sears shopper. I do love the deals that you can get [...]
