Welcome to February! There are a lot of fun events this week including the Loveland Fire and Ice Festival, Chocolate Treats, Valentine’s Day Cookie making and more. Go to our event calendar for full calendar listings. 

Loveland Fire and Ice Festival at the Loveland Visitors Center
Feb 10  – 12 
It’s time to experience how the Nation’s Sweetheart City, celebrates Valentine’s Day. This is the largest Valentine’s Day celebration in the nation – where fire, ice, entertainment and fun collide. The heart of downtown comes alive for three full days and nights of fun featuring an explosive fireworks show with music and lights, ice sculpting, fire performances and more. 

Free Day at Four Mile Historic Park 
Feb 10, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Take a tour of the Four Mile House Museum, check out historic demonstrations, explore our 12-acre grounds, sample a treat from our summer kitchen, and greet our farm animals. We’ll also be offering our Hay Bales & Tall Tales story and activity time from 12:00-1:00 pm. 

Cupid University at the Outlets at Castle Rock

Monster Jam 2017 at the Pepsi Center

Feb 10 – 12 
A wealth of new faces will compete in the Monster Jam® Triple Threat SeriesTM Central presented by AMSOIL in 2017. This series will challenge the athletes in their abilities to handle Monster Jam trucks, ATVs and Speedsters as they make their way across the country on the road to Monster Jam World Finals® XVIII. 

Family Fun Day: Curious Connections at the CU South Boulder
Feb 11, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
The good, the bad, and the ugly… some living things interact in ways that help each other, while some living things harm others for their own benefit. Discover fascinating relationships in nature, and test out different activities that will be featured in the Curious Connections in Nature exhibit opening in April at the CU Museum in Boulder. Learn about curious connections between planets, stars and moons in Fiske Planetarium’s StarLab. 

Kids DIY Pizza Party at the Denver Deep Dish 
Feb 11,  10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join Denver Deep Dish every second Saturday of the month for a great kids event. They give them the pizza, they make it and they cook it all for you. $12 gets you a kids pizza with up to 3 toppings, a kid drink and 1 adult beverage. There are other drink specials available for other parents/family members.

Family Tour at the Clyfford Still Museum

Enjoy an art adventure designed for the whole family! Family Tours are full of games, art making and close looking in the galleries. Their professional team of gallery teachers leads these tours designed for the young (ages 5 to 10) and young at heart.

Love is in the Air: Bird Program at the Barr Lake State Park

Kids, ages 4-8, can celebrate the heart of the season this Valentine’s Day at Barr Lake. Bald eagles and great horned owls are the early birds of the nesting season. Learn about the unique courtship and nesting habits of these fantastic birds. Get a warm and fuzzy feeling with a related story, craft, and short walk.

Siren Song: A Pirate Odyssey

A comedy series for all pirates and their parents- bringing you new high seas hijinks each second Saturday Oct.-May! Inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, an audience-suggested song launches each play-full voyage. (From the people who brought you Trunks and Duck Duck Dupe).

Good Vibrations

The good old days. There really were good vibrations, never forgotten and definitely a cause for celebration. You really did Love Lucy, muscle cars, Elvis, and poodle skirts. You asked “not what your country can do for you,” but rather “what you can do for your country.” “I have a dream” resonated and became part of your soul. We remember, we celebrate, and together, let’s pass it on!

Family Event: Chocolate Treats at the Denver Botanic Gardens

Explore the chocolate tree and its celebrated history. Follow the journey of a cacao bean and discover how chocolate is made. Join us and create a box of delicious chocolate treats to take home.

Peter and the Wolf at the Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex 
Feb 12, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Family-favorite Peter and the Wolf is Prokofiev’s fantastical tale in which Peter and a myriad of unruly animals are brought to life by the instruments of the orchestra. The concert opens with Bernstein’s Overture to Candide, followed by Rossini’s Overture to William Tell and Stravinsky’s Russian Dance from Pétrouchka. 

Valentine’s Day Cookies at the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus 
Feb 12, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Celebrate the season by decorating heart-shaped cookies! Each child will receive a dozen cookies to decorate using a variety of frostings, sprinkles, candies and more. Personalize a gift box and take your treats to-go or deliver them to someone special.

Boulder Chorale Chamber Singers Go to the Library at the Boulder Public Library 
Feb 12, 2:00 – 3:00 pm
Join the Boulder Chorale Chamber Singers on a trip through worlds and time as we explore music from the Medieval and Baroque eras through the modern music of Meredith Monk and Paul McCartney.

An Animal’s Carnival: A Family Program of the Aurora Symphony Orchestra 
Feb 12, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Introduce your children to the joy of music with our traditional Children’s Concerts, featuring a program entitled “An Animal’s Carnival” with fun and exciting music related to animals. Designed as a first-time concert experience, the Aurora Symphony Children’s and Family Concerts give to our little audience members 45 minutes of music, stories and great entertainment, including instrument petting-zoo, face painting, balloon animals and exciting special guests.

Mattress Firm Foster Kids Pajama Drive 
Jan 9 – Feb 12 
All 56 Mattress Firm stores in the Denver area are hosting a Pajama Drive, the first of Mattress Firm Foster Kids’ six 2017 donation drives to benefit local foster youth and families. Through Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, during normal store hours, Mattress Firm will accept new pajamas and monetary contributions to give foster kids the comfort and warmth of a new pair of pajamas.
