6 Spooktacular Apps for Halloween

Millie’s Book of Tricks and Treats Volume 1 and 2 by Megapops LLC ($0.99) iOS Universal is an adorably interactive digibook for kids in the Halloween spirit. The adorable Millie the dog dresses up in lots of costumes and it’s up to your little one to scratch away the cobwebs to find out what she’s wearing at each trick-r-treat location. Help Millie knock on each door and wait with anticipation as each door turns out to be a trick or a treat! This is innocent, spooky fun appropriate even for the tots.

Halloween – Coloring Puzzles for Kids by DevelopLabs (FREE) iOS Universal brings adorably spooky Halloween characters into the world of fun kiddie puzzles. The app is visually polished and lots of fun for young ones who like just of spooky this time of year. My four year old is a big fan of the app and I’m guessing kids up to 6 years old will enjoy it as well.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Loud Crow Interactive ($4.99) iOS Universal is a story that needs no introduction. The charming little app not only includes the great story, but adds a fun fall carnival twist with several great mini games to play. Create your own Peanuts character and have a blast with Charlie Brown in his very first fall festival!

Plants vs. Zombies by PopCap ($2.99) iPhone (iPad version here) is a zombie-themed strategy game that has been a hit since it was first released. It’s just spooky enough to feel perfect this time of year, but fun enough that it won’t really “freak out” anyone. Plants vs Zombies is fun for moms, dads and kids and with Game Center integration, the whole family can challenge each others scores and achievements.

Sex Offender Search by Life360 (FREE) iPhone is a must-have for any parent taking the kids Trick-r-Treating this month. The free app shows uses your GPS location to show you registered sex offenders who live nearby, their home address, birth date, mug shot (if available) and the crime(s) they committed (if available). This app isn’t just great for the great candy plunder, but is a great resource in general to keep tabs on your neighborhood safety level as well as any neighborhoods your children may visit often.

MotionX GPS by MotionX™ ($0.99) iPhone is a great resource for the excessive walking that takes place on Halloween. Keep track of where you are, how far you’ve walked, good routes to take and so much more! MotionX GPS offers voice-guided directions if needed (even while walking) and so much more. Even see how many calories you’ve burned while taking the kids candy hunting!

Hannah Camacho is an educator, mom to three wonderful children ages 4 and younger and proud wife of an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. She has been a BlogHer featured tech blogger and is very involved in the world of mobile app marketing and PR when she’s not chasing her three busy little ones.
