Events: Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, E.T., Harvest Festivals & More!

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. On Saturday, October 6 join Avid4Adventure for their eighth annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. If you haven’t participated in this national event before, you’ve been missing out! Their expert staff will be providing FREE instruction at Valmont Bike Park through 45-minute instructional rides that focus on safety and fun. The rides are only happening from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and registration is required. They will have some lightly used bikes for sale, Boulder Community Hospital will be giving away free toddler and youth helmets, The Sweet Cow ice cream truck will be serving up deliciousness, and Community Cycles, Boulder’s non-profit bike shop, will be accepting donated bikes. http://www.avid4.com

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. On Wednesday, October 3 at 7 p.m., the magical E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will bicycle his way back in to theaters and the hearts of millions with the special 30th Anniversary presentation of the beloved classic. Cider Days.
Lakewood Heritage Center will be the apple of your eye if you’re an apple-lover on October 6 and 7 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Activities include arts and crafts, live entertainment, apple bake-off, pie-eating contest, cider pressing, antique farm equipment, burrow rides, wagon rides, climbing wall, petting zoo, obstacle course and inflatable bounce castle. Rock Ledge Ranch Harvest Festival.
On Saturday, October 6 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., celebrate the bounty of a traditional fall harvest. The Chambers’ 1880s farm will be FREE and filled with activities and fun in the crisp autumn air. Ride a pony or a horse-drawn wagon, listen to old-time music, pick a pumpkin to take home, scramble for candy, kick back on the lawn with a slice of pie, tour the restored 1880s Rock Ledge House and 1907 Estate House. http://www.rockledgeranch.com/

Four Mile Park’s Pumpkin Harvest Festival. On September 6 and 7, visit Four Mile Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for an exciting county fair area where you can rummage through our costume bank and take an ‘old-timey’ photo in front of the Four Mile House, enter a pie eating contest or win something yummy in an old-fashioned cake walk. Find the perfect pumpkin in the patch, create your very own scarecrow, listen and dance to old time music, play historic games or make a historic craft. There will be plenty of food available including homemade caramel apples and other goodies. Be sure to visit the mountain men and Native American encampment, take a horse-drawn ride and tour Four Mile House, Denver’s oldest standing structure, as the Booth family prepares for the harvest.
