Family Volunteer Opportunities: End-of-summer BBQ at Montbello Manor & Rake Up Colorado!

Want another great chance to volunteer as a family? Join Volunteers of America for one last BBQ before the end of the summer at Montbello Manor. The Volunteers of America Montbello Manor is an 80 unit affordable housing complex for limited income seniors. Help them give these seniors a special afternoon of great food, great company, and great fun!

When: Saturday, October 6th, 2012, 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Where: Volunteers of America Montbello Manor, 4355 Carson Street, Denver, Colorado.

Who: You and your family…children of all ages are welcome!

What: Volunteers will be bringing a food item for the BBQ, preparing lunch, playing games and visiting with the senior residents. Volunteers are also asked to bring one Bingo prize. Bingo prizes can be dollar store type items. Residents enjoy hygiene products (soaps, shampoos, hand towels, etc) and cooking utensils.

RSVP: To sign up, please visit the Volunteer Spot website. Sign up is on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited spots are available. Please make sure you sign up every person in your family and sign up to bring an item on the list as well.

Rake Up Colorado!

Volunteers are needed to help rake limited-income seniors’ yards in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties. Take advantage of this group and family-friendly opportunity to help limited-income seniors with this important fall chore.

When: Saturday, November 10th, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Where: Limited-income seniors’ yards in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson counties

Who: You and your family…children of all ages are welcome!

What: Volunteers will be assigned to rake leaves at seniors’ yards throughout their service area. Together, the goal is to serve 250 seniors through this one day of service.

RSVP: To request an event application to sign up, email Amelia Sidinger at asidinger@voacolorado.org. Volunteer applications for the event are due by October 29th.
