Family Volunteer Opportunity: The Stuff for Students School Supply Drive

Did you know that according to the Colorado Children’s Campaign, one of out every six children in Colorado is living in poverty? Poverty is defined as a family of four living on less than $22,050 a year and school supplies can cost anywhere from $50 – $70. The Stuff for Students school supply drive is a collaborative effort on behalf of 9News, Volunteers of America, and Walmart to supply children from low-income families with much-needed school supplies.

As your family prepares for going back to school, please join them for August’s Family Volunteer Project at the annual Stuff for Students School Supply Drive Kickoff! Volunteers are needed during two different shifts at five different Walmart locations.

When: Saturday, August 11th, 2012. Volunteers are needed for two different shifts at each location:
7:00am – 9:30am
9:30am – 12:00pm

Where: Volunteers are needed at each of these Walmart locations:

Stapleton 36th & Quebec
Colfax & Wadsworth
Highland’s Ranch
136th & I-25
Hampden & Yosemite (next to the Kennedy Golf Course)

Who: You and your family…children of all ages are welcome!

What: Family volunteers will be sorting school supplies to be delivered to local schools. Please feel free to bring donations as well!
