Celebrate National Ice Cream Month with These Denver Stores & Recipes!

July! I look forward to this time of year, well, for 11 months. It’s National Ice Cream Month! WOOT. (a little overly excited? YES.)

I’m here to tell you Mile High Mamas where to go and what to do to enjoy July to its fullest, all while keeping cool.

Where to go: Little Man Ice Cream – Located in the LoHi area of Denver (2620 16th Street), this is a must-stop for your sweet tooth (not to mention this ultra-cool shop is in the shape of an old-fashioned milk can). Go with some classic flavors like Strawberry or indulge in something truly unique like the puckering Grapefruit Margarita – complete with salted rim.

Another delicious option that is famous for its Food Network Chef Keegan is D Bar Desserts at 1475 East 17th Avenue, Denver. For a truly luxurious, fun and clever flavor combo try the Churros and RUM & COKE ice cream (Yes, I’m yelling).

What to do: It’s the latest trend, making ice cream at home without an ice cream maker. Yes, you can do that! You’ll need just a few ingredients: Strawberries (or fruit of choice, options are endless), Greek Yogurt, Honey & Almond Milk. Super easy and delicious recipe served best over some homemade waffles…Drooling yet?

Cake and ice cream go hand in hand, how about shaking it up with a Cake Batter Milk Shake? We found this yummy recipe on Pinterest and are eager to get our shake on. Can you imagine the flavors you could create – Red Velvet or German Chocolate? YUMMM-O!

Which treat are you craving?

Jenny Ford, Bon Bon Enthusiast - Some might say Jenny was born with sugar running through her veins so fittingly she co-founded SugarLoco.com – a website dedicated to desserts. Yes, she does sit around and eat bon bons all day, rough. You’ll find delicious dessert recipes, favorite dessert picks in restaurants, sweets on your local grocery store’s shelves and delectables that can be purchased online.

What’s even sweeter? This new column she’ll be writing for Mile High Mamas–a monthly dose of sweetness handpicked by Miss Jenny herself.
