Colorado Independence Day celebrations: A Fourth of July concerts and fireworks event list
While some communities are taking a year off from fireworks — given the current statewide fire ban — others are moving forward with pyrotechnics in addition to their parades, live music and kids activities.
Here are some highlights for the next week, focusing on the big day, the Fourth of July.
(NOTE: Check websites before heading out as some fireworks shows may still be canceled.)
Denver Outlaws fireworks
Wednesday: Colorado’s professional lacrosse team, the Denver Outlaws, will again host its popular fireworks game. The team will play the Ohio Machine at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Tickets, $20.50-$52.50, are on sale via ticketmaster.com. Green Valley Ranch Amphitheater
Wednesday: The band The Julius Show plays a July Fourth concert from 8-9:30 p.m., followed by a fireworks show over the lake choreographed to music. Free. 4890 Aronne Way; 303-595-8747 or skylineusa.com/oakwood
All-American Patriotic Favorites Presented by the Denver Brass

Arvada Celebration

Parker’s “Let Freedom Sing!”
Wednesday: Celebrations are from 6-10 p.m. beginning with a performance by Rocky Mountain Brassworks at 7 p.m. and Buckstein’s country favorites from 8 t0 9:30 p.m., with fireworks to follow. Also enjoy bounce castles, a bubble tower and games. Families are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase food from vendors. Onsite parking: $5. Evergreen Music Festival
Wednesday: Full day of music starting with Sedici Corde Quartet, followed by the Denver Brass, Celtic Pipes, Rocky Mountain Highland Dancers and John Elandson at 11:30 a.m. The National Repertory Orchestra will play patriotic music at 3 p.m. Austin Young and the No Difference Band play 6-8 p.m. Also, enjoy an art show, fishing clinics, bounce castle, petting zoo and food. Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade
Through Wednesday: Centennial Village hosts a patriotic weekend with 1900-era baseball, watermelon, hand-squeezed lemonade, stagecoach rides and gun fights. The parade will be in downtown Greeley beginning at 9 a.m. and runs north on 10th Avenue starting at 19th Street and ending at Fifth Street. Thornton’s “Red, White & Boom!”
Wednesday: The Multipurpose Fields open at 5 p.m. with entertainment, food and refreshments. The Thornton Community Band performs at 6 p.m., followed by the Longmont Symphony Orchestra at 8 p.m. A patriotic parachute jump by Mile Hi Skydiving starts off the fireworks show at dusk. Civic Center Independence Eve Celebration
Tuesday: A free community event from 8-10 p.m. featuring a patriotic concert by the Colorado Symphony, light show and stunning rooftop fireworks atop the Denver City & County Building. Georgetown Old-fashioned Fourth of July Family Festival
Wednesday: Five-kilometer race and stroll at 8 a.m., parade at 11 a.m., barbecue in City Park at noon and bucket brigade races at 2 p.m. Georgetown; 303-569-2888
Lafayette’s Fourth of July Celebration at Waneka Lake
Wednesday: Kids activities, face painting, balloon sculpting and a pie-eating contest. Chris Daniels and the Kings will play from 5-9 p.m. Fireworks show at dusk. Indian Hills Fire Rescue Fourth of July

Commerce City Fireworks and Colorado Rapids
Wednesday: Enjoy a circus, karaoke, zip-line, climbing wall and mechanical bull. The Colorado Rapids play the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 7:30 p.m. while free festivities continue outside.
