Denver Deal: Harkins Theaters, CU Spring Game, Kite Festival and more

Spring brings with it longer days – and more time to have fun outside with the kids!  I would love to hear what any of you are doing to make those last few months of school more bearable.  Are you already buying your kids summer wardrobe?  Check out the consignment sales for some great deals on where you can get clothes at affordable prices.  And don’t forget the taste of summer with the Driscoll’s Strawberries – available only for a few more weeks!   

Harkins Summer Fun Movies

Harkins Theatres brings back some of Hollywood’s best family films (Yogi Bear, Shrek Forever After, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona & Beezus, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind, Despicable Me and more) to keep kids entertained and cool during the summer. Kids can enjoy a movie a week for 10 weeks, for less than $1 per film.  Make Harkins Summer Movie Fun for kids an annual tradition for your family. Tickets go on sale at Northfield [Stapleton] on Friday, April 15.

University of Colorado Buffaloes Football

Even though it is spring – you can still get your fix of football and your first look at new coach Jon Embree at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  Starting at 4 p.m. at the Balch Fieldhouse (adjacent Folsom Field) get your CU gear at the Garage Sale.  Then stick around for the alumni flag football game at 5 p.m. and the Spring game at 6 p.m.  After the game – the team will be on hand for autographs!

Arvada Kite Festival

This Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Robby Ferrufino Park (74th Avenue and Carr Drive) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. celebrate  National Kite Month with free activities including kite contests, kids activities, lots of food, and interesting community booths, making this one of the metro areas most intriguing festivals.

Nuggets or Mammoth Family Night

Denver Nuggets celebrate Aquafina youth nights on April 5 or 11th each child 14 and under is admitted free with a paid adult.  Or if basketball is not your game consider lacrosse with the Mammoth vs. the Calgary Roughnecks for only $39 get four tickets, four beers/sodas, and four hot dogs. Mountain Spring Break Fun

I-70 will be shutting down between Empire and Silverthorne on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  Winter Park is offering a discounted rate ticket for season pass holders from any of the other ski resorts and Loveland is hosting a FREE pancake breakfast on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.  

Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, and Keystone are all celebrating Spring Fever with all kinds of fun.  All of the resorts have great deals, free concerts, fun and events.  Plus, Keystone is offering a Buy one Get One promotion on lift tickets through April 10. 

9Health Fair

The 9 Health Fair has started.  Free or inexpensive screenings and tests.  While this is not a kid-centric event, parents please consider taking care of yourself enough to be screened for health risks and concerns.  Find a fair near you.
