February 8, 2012 – 8:00 am | 3 Comments

In this series of blogs, the “Kid Blenders,” I will be addressing our challenges, trying to blend our two families together. The names of the children will be changed to spare the easily embarrassed. And let me be upfront about this: I’m no clinical expert. I’m just a single mom trying to figure life out as I go. But knowing that there are around 14 million single parents out there…I’m guessing that I’m not alone in this venture.

Share Your Recipes at Mile High Mamas’ Spring Recipe Swap and Win!
March 28, 2009 – 12:00 am | Comments Off

I recently attended an event where Qdoba Mexican Grill unveiled their tasty new Chile Verde. The Colorado-based head chef gave us a tutorial on cooking with chiles and best of all? He divulged some of his favorite recipes such as the restaurant’s to-die-for mango salsa.
To quote my 2-year-old son: “DEWICIOUS!”
After sampling Qdoba’s fresh, healthy food [...]

Tough mom decisions: how did you decide?
March 23, 2009 – 12:00 am | No Comment

I never aspired to be a stay-at-home mom.
Reflecting back upon it, I never aspired to do much of anything. It was not that I was lacking in ambition. I was that annoying overachiever in athletics and academics but I just didn’t know what I wanted to do when I “grew up.” I didn’t declare Broadcast [...]

What I do love is inspiring stories about other moms who have made motherhood work for them. Enter: Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Power Moms–101 Stories Celebrating [...]

Help on when to stop babying your baby
March 9, 2009 – 12:00 am | No Comment

My daughter is growing up.
This was not always a bad thing. She was not one of those snugly, lovey-dovey babies who oozed with affection and craved companionship.
That was her little brother.
Hadley was the child who put us in our place from day one. The Baby who cried so much the first night we brought her [...]

Recessions Suck–How Have You Been Impacted?
March 2, 2009 – 12:00 am | No Comment

On Friday, I blubbered like a baby. It was not because of the lice infestation that pervaded our home. Or my daughter’s chicken pox outbreak.
Though those may have contributed to my fragile state.

It was because I read the final edition of Colorado’s oldest newspaper–The Rocky Mountain News, which closed its doors on Friday. A [...]
