With the snow from last week, I am already thinking about Christmas – no I do not work in retail, but just going shopping, I see it already!  Anyway, I need to schedule the regular photos with the kids – and after making an appointment to get my own Mile High Mamas photos done with Iman Woods, I was thinking how much fun it would be to return with the kids!

Colorado Ski Deals

Colorado Ski Country and Vail Resorts offer fantastic programs that allow 5th and 6th Graders the opportunity to learn how to ski and/or snowboard through the Passport and School of Shred programs.

Winter Park Ski Swap

Winter Park Competition Center will host its 27^th Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap Friday, October 14, from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, October 15, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. At the West Portal Station at the base of Winter Park Resort. Save on goods provided by individuals and vendors liquidating last year’s stock at up to 75% off. Plus, there will also be deals on downhill bikes. The event costs just $3/person or $8/family on Friday, and FREE on Saturday.

Joe’s Crab Shack

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Joe’s Crab Shack and wasn’t prepared for how kid-friendly it is. The restaurant has revamped their kid’s menu with healthy choices like the Kids Steampot (a cluster of Snow crab, 3 shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob and a potato) and my daughter’s not-so-healthy but delicious Captain’s Catch (cheesy mozzarella sticks, popcorn shrimp, fries and a fish stick). Healthy side choices include corn on the cob, applesauce, rice, veggies, and celery with ranch dressing. If that’s not enough to lure you in, your kids will LOVE Joe’s Sand Lot, a small playground attached to the restaurant and you will love the break while you’re waiting for you food. Joe’s doesn’t offer the best seafood you’ll ever have but with the revamped menu, Sand Lot and wait staff who break into dancing every 45 minutes (my kids busted a few moves, too), you’ll have loads of fun. There are four locations in Colorado–Westminster, Aurora, Parker and Colorado Springs.

Halloween Activities

I am all for the kids getting full use of the costumes I pay so much for – so it is great when we can find Halloween Happenings that go on all month long!

• If you are planning your own party don’t forget Spooky Food. Love Frieda’s Specialty Foods for all the fun stuff they have like Driscoll’s Berries, Crepes, Red White and Blue Potatoes. To Find out more spooky foods and to enter to win  your own goodie bag – like them on their facebook page.
• Saturdays through October, Central City offers historic ghost tours (they have earlier in the night start times for the family friendly tours). Tickets are available at King Soopers.
• IHOP (International House of Pancakes) is celebrating Halloween all month with Pumpkin pancakes, Funny Face Pancake turns scary with “design-your-own” Scary Face Pancake for kids 12 and under (Count Spatula) and then on October 28 kids will be treated to a FREE Scary Face pancake!
• Royal Gorge Route’s Halloween Trick or Treat Train takes off October 29-31. Treats and pumpkin patch make the trip so much fun.
• BooTown at Heritage Square in Golden has a bi-level 3-D maze, fun for kids of all ages!  Pumpkin painting and Halloween entertainment.  Plus, if you use the coupon below you can snag an AWESOME discount. The fun goes through the end of the month.
