As new parents with an irascible, insomniac toddler, [...]

Denver Deal: WackyW, SkiRex, Blockbuster & Consignment Sales

I’m starting to realize that my calendar is full, full, full. I can’t seem to keep track of what is what and who goes where. Age-old dilemma though (I guess). I actually thought–or was perhaps more wishfully thinking–that today was the Monday before Labor Day weekend. Now, I’ve been ahead of myself by a day here or there – but seriously, I’m off by almost 2 weeks! Why? Because I’m excited! I am excited for all that is going on with me and my family on Labor Day – we will stop by SkiRex (say hi to EchoMountain while we’re there), go on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad (Vista Dome for lunch), and finish off the weekend with a Kingsford BBQ and Zac Brown Band Concert at Red Rocks.  But more than that, I may just be ahead of myself trying to figure out how I will  jam in those precious few weeks before summer fades to fall and then all too quickly into winter.

Wacky W Bike Ride

The 1st annual Wacky W takes place Saturday, September 10th and gives cyclists of all ages and abilities the chance to contribute directly to Douglas County school’s bottom line without fundraising!  Enjoy a family ride together, burn calories, have a nice lunch and leave with a tote bag full of fun freebies!  There are three lengths of rides to choose from.  Not up for riding?  Help the schools by volunteering!  Email volunteer@WarginEvents.com

Denver Center for Performing Arts Open House

Saturday, August 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is hosting an open house. Look inside the DCPA with activities, games and prizes for theatre lovers, families and children. Not only will kids participate in games, but they will have the opportunity to try on costumes, demonstrate their acting skills, and be interviewed on the “Red Carpet”.

Ski Rex

What are your plans for Labor Day weekend?  Ski Rex at the Colorado Ski & Golf Aurora location will be in full swing with great deals.  SKI REX is also the place for parents to snag the single best deal anywhere in Colorado for equipment for kids ages 4-18 with the Junior Trade-In program.  This budget-friendly ski/board exchange program has been available for more than 25 years and was created to insure that children’s ski equipment remains affordable as they grow up—even for families on a tight budget.  A complete set of used equipment is available for $99.99 and includes skis, boots, bindings and a safety binding check.  Equipment can be returned the following year by March 31 and parents can refit their kids into a different set of used equipment for the next season.  The net cost per child after the first year is $49.99 per year!  The Junior Trade-In is also offered on new equipment with setups starting at $199.99. If the equipment is returned by March 31 the following year, a 50 percent discount is given for the next year’s equipment–$99.99/year after the first year!  If the kids don’t grow that much or love their current equipment, they can keep it for two years and return it for a 30 percent discount after two seasons.  A similar deal is available for snowboarders with a slightly higher rate for used equipment–$99.99 for a full snowboard setup that includes boots and deck.

ColoradoKids.com
ColoradoKids.com has a plethora of great coupons, discounts, and event ideas. I especially love the Kids Deals.  It is like a groupon but better – because the deals are always great family-friendly things that my kids and I want to do.

Golden Spoon FREE Yogurt

Follow @GoldenSpoonCO on Twitter.  Each Monday, a trivia question (about Colorado, frozen yogurt or health/fitness) will be posted.  The first response with the correct answer wins FREE yogurt.  This is how I like to start a week! #strikegold giveaways.

Unlimited Kids and Family Rentals
When was the last time you were in Blockbuster? This store has definitely taken a hit but can’t be beat for selection and they’ve drastically reduced their prices (most are just $0.99). I love this promotion (particularly for the chilly winter months): Camp WannaWatchaMovie. For just $4.99/month (plus tax), get unlimited kid and family movies for the entire month. You may only have one rental at a time but it is good for everything in their kids and family section. There is also a free gift when you sign up.

Consignment Sales
It is that time of year again for great consignment sales. If you know of one shoot us a line.Children’s Consignment Sales. Thousands of shoppers find bargains on kids’ clothing for newborn-preteen, toys, strollers, furniture, baby equipment, books, shoes, maternity items and more…all at 50-90% below retail.
