Denver Deal: Harry Potter, Greeley Stampede & more

I love a warm summer evening with great live music in a park.  No matter where you are in town – North, South, East or West there seems to be a concert or movie outing for free.  I used to irritate me when a friend of mine used to say, “I just hang out at home because I don’t have any money.”  Now, I just invite him along – or send him links to this blog.  There are a ton of things to do in town for little or no money!  The list continues to grow each week.

When you are out and about grab one of Bruegger’s new thin bagels.  You can make a sandwich with these fantastic delights!  My daughter LOVES bagels but rarely finishes a whole one.  When I took her (and her brother) to Bruegger’s we got the thin bagel sandwiches – she ate the WHOLE thing.  They have the same great taste as a full bagel but they are thinner!  I love taking them to the free concerts.  So…will I see you at the Soul X concert in Aurora with your Bruegger’s in hand?

Harry Potter Fans

Get your tickets now!   Harkins Theater (Northfield 18) will be showing  the complete Potter series in a four day celebration that leads to the final chapter for Harry and his friends.  Are you a Harry Potter fan who has been anxiously awaiting the final installment of this world-wide phenomenon?   It all begins with an unprecedented four day long marathon Monday, July 11 through Thursday, July 14 leading into the very last Harry Potter film ever, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.  The $40 ticket includes admission to all eight films plus a commemorative lanyard, a Harry Potter swag bag, two FREE small popcorns, a FREE 2011 Loyalty Cup (good for $1 soda refills through 2011) and four FREE Loyalty Cup refills.  Get your tickets now!

Do you have Fourth of July Plans?

Plan a visit to the mountains.  Breckenridge will host have a celebration that includes free concerts, parade and more.  Steamboat Springs will host a parade, Rodeo,  and a cattle drive right down Main street.  Granby will also host a rodeo, parade and fireworks display.  Estes Park will host the most fantastic car show and a really fantastic fireworks show.  Any where you go in the state there are great ways to celebrate America’s Birthday and see some amazing fireworks displays!  Look for our upcoming round-up of all the great fireworks shows!

Free Concerts

Denver has a ton of free concerts all summer long mostly at venues like malls and parks.  Here are a few we know about – if you know of more email me – or send me a tweet.

Hot Lunch performs this Thursday, June 23 at FlatIron Crossing as part of the FlatIron Crossing Thursday Summer Concert Series.

Thursday, June 23 from 7 to 8:30 PM – Moses Jones (R &B) will perform as part of the Clement Park Free Summer Concert Series at Clement Park in Littleton.

Soul X will be at  Southlands in Aurora on Friday, June  24 Southlands presents free concerts.

In Highlands Ranch, Jersey Shore will perform on Thursday, June 23 at Highlands Heritage Park.

Greeley Stampede

The  Greeley Stampede is back  June 24 to July 4.  The annual rodeo/fair boasts popular Western attractions such as daily parades, rodeos, kids’ rodeo, mutton bustin’, carnival rides, vendor and food booths, a beer garden and fireworks. The Coca-Cola Family Pack, includes four Rodeo tickets (June 28, 29, 30 only), four Coca-Cola soft drink vouchers, 12 carnival ride ticket vouchers and a one-day parking pass for $40. Purchase at the Stampede box office (use promo code “Coca Cola Family Pack”).

Rio Grand Scenic Railroad

My Grandpa used to “drive” a train.  I can recall as a child waiting anxiously at a certain spot in Winter Park to wave to him as he drove the massive train by.  I have just been waiting for the right time to take my kids on a train ride.  The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, based in Alamosa, is offering a host of family-friendly train ride options, including an amazing deal for kids to ride free June 24-26 and July 1 or 3!  Plus, I we have a “heads up” that they will have a Denver-area Groupon next Monday (June 27) for their fun Mountain Rails Concert Series.

Aspen Grove Film Festival

The Family Film Festival at Aspen Grove continues this week with the movie Yogi Bear.  Festivities start at 6 p.m. including booths, jumpy castles, games, entertainment and more and the movie begins at dusk.

Del Taco

I love (and often take my kids) on Tuesdays, when you can get three regular tacos for only $1.09.  But they have added a second bargain night, on Thursdays, you can get three chicken soft tacos for $2.09.
