Spring is definitely showing its pretty little face here in Colorado. This means Easter isn’t far behind and we couldn’t be more excited. The weather changes daily this time of year, so sometimes it’s hard to plan ahead for our various Easter activities, especially with young kids. We don’t want to be outside if it’s overly cold, but we definitely want to participate in all the fun Easter events.

Here are five low-cost ideas for Easter Activities for Preschoolers that you can fit into your busy schedule and encourage the fun of the season with your little ones.

Create fun with Easter Crafts. Make a bunny mask or a pretty flower center piece for the Easter brunch table. Create your own egg holders to display the finished decorated eggs or make decorations.

Explore with eggs. Pretty colored eggs are definitely a symbol of the season. Beyond coloring hard boiled eggs, there is a ton of fun to be had with eggs of all types. Introduce your preschooler to hard boiled eggs, let them explore the texture and taste, allowing them to smash and mix and cut and hold their eggs before making a batch of egg salad sandwiches. Or how about having an egg race (using plastic eggs of course), make an eggshell garden or see how many plastic egg halves you can stack on top of one another.

Make your own Easter basket. Using recycled materials, have fun painting, cutting and gluing together your own fabulous homemade Easter Basket. Add a ribbon, glitter, stickers pretty gems for extra sparkle. You can also personalize Easter baskets you already have by making pretty little flowers, name plates and other embellishments your preschooler can help create. It’s amazing what can happen with a little creativity and Easter theme inspiration!

Play Easter-themed games. A lot of our favorite games can be modified to feature and Easter theme. Create counting games using plastic eggs, sorting games using jelly beans or matching
games using Easter stickers on little cards you make yourself. Check out the Dollar store for inexpensive Easter goodies you can use to create more fun games.

Go on an Eggcellent egg hunt. There are a number of merchants and local venues hosting egg hunts, many for free, around the city beginning this coming weekend. Start checking the Denver Post events section along with your local community newsletters and websites for dates and locations near you. If you don’t want to leave the house for your Easter hunt happiness, consider hosting your own neighborhood egg hunt. Invite neighbors to pitch in with treats and invite the kids to bring their Easter baskets to enjoy in the fun.
