Join Tim McGraw in “Givin’ Where You’re Livin’” to benefit local charity!
Country music superstar Tim McGraw is supporting nonprofits across the United States during his 2010 Southern Voice tour. And one of those nonprofits is Denver’s very own Tennyson Center for Children! (Tennyson Center is one of the Rocky Mountain region’s leading treatment and education centers for abused, neglected and at-risk youth.)
Through a sponsorship with Frito-Lay, McGraw’s charitable fund, Neighbor’s Keeper, has identified worthy nonprofit organizations which serve children and their families in select tour cities. Grants from this sponsorship will be made to local charities in 34 cities via The Neighbor’s Keeper Fund. On Saturday, July 31, 2010, the Southern Voice Tour arrives in Denver (at the Comfort Dental Amphitheatre), and McGraw, his Neighbor’s Keeper’s Fund and Frito-Lay’s Fritos brand corn chips will make a $13,000 grant to Tennyson Center to help stimulate and challenge local community giving.
King Soopers is getting in on the action, too, by running a
point-of-purchase advertising effort for McGraw and for Frito-Lay products in area grocery stores throughout the month of July. Local King Soopers’ shoppers will be encouraged to join McGraw in his efforts by donating $10 to Tennyson Center through the organization’s mobile giving campaign. (Text “play” to 50555.)
This gift comes at a crucial time. As government-sponsored programs struggle with budget cuts, more families are struggling with overwhelming amounts of stress due to the weak economy. And this type of stress can lead to increased incidences of child abuse. Through their generosity, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and everyone participating in the mobile campaign will help to ensure that Tennyson Center is well-positioned to meet this growing demand and provide the care that the children it serves so desperately need.
