Product Review: Urban Baby Gourmet – - Local, Homemade and Organic
This month I choose to review Urban Baby Gourmet. It’s a Denver-based company and I was impressed with their adorable marketing material and decided to get a gaggle of gals and babies together to sample the goods.
It’s summer and who wants to be stuck in the kitchen making baby food, let someone else do it for you. Sure, there are a plethora of nutritious store-bought brands, but give a little love back to the Colorado community and try something local. Our MHM product reviewers for the day descended on Denver’s Washington Park for a smorgasbord of pureed and mixed goodies for baby and toddler. Urban Baby Gourmet (UBG) was on hand to serve up nine of their signature items for the wee ones (and moms too)!
Many moms in Colorado debate the organic versus non-organic route to raising a child. Whatever side of the fence you might set up camp, think local, not just organic. The cool thing about UBG, it’s all organic food, of course, but made using extremely eco-conscious methods.
The company is a member of the Colorado Proud food co-op amongst other Colorado do-good organizations.
“My daughter enjoyed the different flavors, and we especially liked the chunkier varieties that included meats. I find it pretty simple to make the initial straightforward purees, but it is intimidating to make some of the more complex baby foods, and the typical meat in jar baby foods that you can by in the store grosses me out. I like the idea of being able to purchase healthy, homemade baby foods that I wish I had the confidence and skills to make on my own. It would be great if they sold some of their foods at Tony’s or Whole Foods. It is easier for me to splurge on the fly at the market then to shell out the money to have it delivered to my house.” – mom to Sam, 9 months old.
“I thought the food was good. The flavors were better than any baby food I have tasted. If my son was still eating baby food I would absolutely buy it.” — mom to Quint, 10 months old.
I was surprised my daughter was willing to try so many new flavors. There were a few I know she did not care for, but overall, she spooned everything right up.
UBG allows parents to choose from three categories (1) silky and smooth (2) thick and saucy and (3) hearty and chunky. Each entrée comes with recommendations for ages to try the first tastes. Within each category are numerous options to choose from—everything from meat, veggies, fruits, grains and more. Some of our favorites
included the welcome harvest, peach cobbler, O’Leary beef stew, Bubby’s chicken soup (the overall favorite) amongst others. Most of the recipes for each entree are listed on the website, in case you want to attempt anything at home. However, UBG saves you the time and mess of making scrumptious and clever meals that will enable your baby to be a well-rounded eater. Check out their website for retail locations, delivery options, pricing and menus. (www.urbanbabygourmet.com)

OK, this post just made me smile at the idea of a baby food smorgasbord! Looks like all the moms and kiddos are having a blast and the food is delish.
Love it! Nothing like a picnic of homemade baby food! Only thing missing is the Help Yourself Feeding Solution. The cups shown would fit too! Comes with two removable cups that you can store homemade baby food in. Regular lids will fit the cups. Baby Feeding Tray cups are microwave and dishwasher safe. Created by a mother of twins. Great for feeding baby in a stroller. Find a retailer across that U.S by visiting our website or order through LTD Commodities catalog they have just about everything.
These babies are loving this! Remember babies get bored with the same food. Offer up a veggie, meat, desert and alternate. They will love the variety and they will get better nutrients this way.
