Games2U brings out big fun
I don’t think I stopped smiling for two hours.
Maybe it was watching our guests of all ages being launched into summersaults and contortions, encased in a giant, clear blow up hamster ball? It could have been witnessing a long line of kids being mowed over by what one of my sons compared to The Death Star. Then there was the sight of grown men dancing their hearts out to You Can’t Touch This. Or maybe the strawberry-scented fog filling the video game van did the trick?
At eight months pregnant, most women wouldn’t find throwing a party to be such a rewarding experience. Normally, we measure everything we do on a carefully considered scale: What is the likelihood my ankles will resemble sand bags in a few hours? I think I found the key, though.
Have someone else, like a crazy-talented and well-equiped professional, take over.
Games2U has recently invaded Denver in a massive way. I was lucky to get to host a Games2U party at a park near our home this past weekend. Our guests ranged from infants to old enough to be President and everyone had a blast.
My first impression of the Games2U van and trailer was wonder. It rolled up our street and immediately I knew that it wasn’t going to be an ordinary afternoon. I met the owner, Job, and the Game Coach, Shea. They were friendly, energetic, and professional. I wasn’t sure what to expect from so much high tech on my suburban street, but they put me at ease.
It didn’t take long for Job and Shea to begin the party set-up. Panels pop up on the side of the van, revealing 3 giant video screens of various Wii games. Inside the van, there are three more giant screens with xbox and Playstation 3 games and a long bench for seating. Shea made sure the games were age-appropriate for our guests, which was refreshing. You don’t want a 5-year-old playing Resident Evil.
Outside the van, they got to work inflating the hamster ball. It took about 15 minutes to breathe it into its full glory. I was dying to crawl inside and tumble down the grassy slope, but I remembered the wise words of a pregnancy book I once read: Don’t do that. What could I do in my condition beside eat the cupcakes I bought for the occasion?
Dance! I got to boogie to Just Dance, a Wii game with tons of fun songs to help even the worst dancer look somewhat capable to the people driving by on the street. Most people play these games in the privacy of their homes. Being outside lent an extra air of fun to the experience. The Games2U van, coupled with the hamster ball, drew lots of attention and interest. It’s the only Games2U franchise in Denver.
The hamster ball did not sit idle for the entire span of the party. There was a constant line of kids and adults waiting to tumble and bump down the slope. Many of the kids discovered it was almost as much fun for the ball to roll over them, especially if mom or dad was inside. But Games2U doesn’t stop at video game supremacy or hamster balls. They also have laser tag, a foam pit, a game called Booger Wars, with other games coming soon. And to top off the afternoon?
Job shot a candy canon high into the sky over the grassy lawn. I’ve never seen kids run so fast. It got my wheels turning. Every mom should have a canon to load clean underwear, homework, and multivitamins inside. Your kids would be guaranteed to scramble for whatever falls from the sky.
Overall, it was an amazing afternoon. I highly recommend Games2U for anyone throwing a gathering where you want your guests to go home with awesome memories and maybe slight case of vertigo. I’m thinking birthdays, graduation parties, youth group nights, school functions, block parties, and family reunions. The possibilities are endless.
Job, the owner, with his wife Adriana, were attentive and truly helpful when it came to planning the afternoon. They were a pleasure to work with. And Shea, the game coach, has amazing energy and enthusiasm.

So excited to read about this! I’ve already booked a party for my block next month.
Sounds like you’ll be very popular with the neighborhood kids, if you weren’t already.

This sounds sooooooo much fun. I’m glad it worked out!
Looks like you guys had a BLAST! (Quite literally, with that candy canon.)
I did not know such a thing as a giant hamster ball existed. Now I want one. That looks like one cool party!
