WeeCycle’s 2nd Annual Hopscotch Hustle
Parents and tots strut their stuff for local nonprofit WeeCycle’s second annual Hopscotch Hustle
On Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at The Curtis hotel in Denver, hip moms, expecting moms, baby-wearing and nursing moms will hit the runway along with cool tots and dads at the second annual Hopscotch Hustle fashion show. Proceeds from this family-friendly event will benefit WeeCycle, a local nonprofit whose mission is to provide low-income families in the Denver metro area with new and gently used baby gear.
Models at the Hopscotch Hustle will be rockin’ the runway in hip fashions for mom, dad and baby from local boutiques, including Metroboom, Violet, Becoming Mothers, Outdoor Divas, Kidsport, Talulah Jones and Chinny Chin Chin, with hair and makeup by Luxe salon. There will also be a fabulous silent auction, fancy carnival fare for young and old alike, drinks, cash bar, music, entertainment and games for kids! Kid entertainment includes cupcake decorating, a princess costume corner and a make-your-own sundae bar!
Tickets are available in advance at WeeCycleColorado.org. Tickets are $20 for general admission or $45 for premium seating and a fabulous goody bag. Kids 5 and under are free.
Last year’s Hopscotch Hustle was a huge success, attracting over 400 people and raising over $5,000 in its first year. This year’s Hopscotch Hustle promises to be even better. There is a tremendous demand for mothers to be hip and fashionable, yet practical and comfortable as they juggle their personal and professional lives with motherhood.
“When I had my baby, I gave up my career and my figure will never be quite the same. I gave up wearing most jewelry and heels. But I wasn’t willing to give up my sense of style for sweatpants. There’s no reason I can’t find styles that are functional yet flattering and fashionable,” says new mom Liz Liechti.
Many Colorado mothers have scaled back high-powered careers or put them on hold entirely, but are not willing to give up their sense of style for a pair of mom jeans. Others are breastfeeding even after they go back to work. This new concept of motherhood is creating a demand for a whole new realm of fashion needs, and in these tough times, many designers and boutiques are listening. Come see what they have to offer at the Hopscotch Hustle.
About WeeCycle
WeeCycle’s mission is to provide low-income families in the Denver metro area with new and gently used baby gear free of charge. In their first year, WeeCycle donated over 1,000 items to families in need. The gear is acquired through the charitable donations of individuals and businesses and distributed through local community organizations already serving families with infants and toddlers affected by poverty, domestic violence and homelessness. WeeCycle also contributes to environmental preservation by recycling and reusing baby gear and operating in an environmentally conscious manner. To find out more, visit WeeCycleColorado.org.
