Using the basinet concerned me as he was not tall enough to look into it without putting his hands on the side and pulling himself up. A danger for her and a stress for me, we decided to use a port a crib with the mesh side so he could see her and she would be safe. It was also big enough if she was in her car seat we could set her car seat and all into it. Good Luck! When my daughter was born my son was 16 months old.
