Mama’s Night Out at Sephora Redefines a “GHD” (Good Hair Day)

Mama’s Night Out at Sephora Redefines a “GHD” (Good Hair Day)

Every other month, Mile High Mamas throws a Mama’s Night Out to bring Colorado’s social media moms together to collaborate and connect.

And to party. Big time.

On Tuesday evening, the Sephora in Boulder hosted a pamper party wherein I experienced an unprecedented transformation. (Spoiler alert: some women equated my metamorphosis to that of Clark Kent.)

But first things first. A Mile High Mamas party is not a party without a great cause. We partnered with charity-minded Mom It Forward and all attendees donated make-up and beauty products to support SafeHouse of Denver, a women’s shelter that serves victims of domestic violence and their children.

As moms, we were deserving of a few indulgences of our own and Sephora invited some of their leading vendors to help us in our primping process. Bare Escentuals and Urban Decay gave make-up demos. Bliss and Nude Skincare both did express skincare consultations. We found out why the Clarisonic skincare cleansing brush is their top-selling item in the world of skincare with mini-facials, and massage therapists from the Boulder Country Club gave 10-minute chair massages.

Ace photographer Aimee Giese took professional headshots of the women and Tiara Training made everyone feel like a princess by distributing tiaras.

A Mile High Mamas party would not be complete without giveaways and they were in abundance. Every woman went home with a beautiful potted flower and tickets to the Colorado Garden & Home Show February 13-21, which has family-friendly diversions such as the 5,500-square-foot Ice Age Entry Garden. Other glorious giveaways included:

*Four tickets to the Avalanche hockey game on January 22.
*Four tickets to Disney Live! Rockin’ Roadshow on February 5 and 6.
*Four tickets to the Monster Jam on February 13 and 14.
*Coupons to try Qdoba’s fabulous new children’s menu…for free!
*Free coupons for Sara Lee Soft & Smooth bread (healthy) and their delicious desserts (not healthy).
*A sundry of Sephora products.

Distributing these giveaways was one of my highlights of the evening, mostly because they let Mom It Forward Chapter President Barb Likos and me stand up on the counters.

Which was our equivalent to dancing on the tables.

Now, back to my transformation. I have had the same curly mop of hair since I hit puberty. I’ve occasionally straightened it but the process was so time-consuming without great results that it was a rarity.

Enter: styling pro Diana Jacobs and her miraculous GHD “Good Hair Day.” This flatiron hails from the UK
and is touted as the best styling tool in the market. While I certainly can’t back that claim, I can personally attest I have never had results like this. In fact, so great was my love for the GHD that Mile High Mamas will be offering one as a giveaway next week. Diana straightened my hair in a mere 10 minutes and the result was a sleek, smooth, Clark Kent-esque transformation.

Just call me “Superwoman,” which is how Sephora made everyone feel that evening.

A special thanks to Sephora for partnering with Mile High Mamas. If you are a local business how would like to host one of our gatherings, please contact me. Also, we are not an exclusive group. If you are a Colorado mom interested in social media, be sure to get on our invitation list. Our next event will be on February 24 at Water 2 Wine.
