Daily Deal-Save on Thanksgiving Dinner

Daily Deal-Save on Thanksgiving Dinner

This week I thought I’d share a few tips on how to save a little on Thanksgiving dinner.

We all know the holidays can be kind of stressful.  Keep things simple and plan ahead with these tips:

1. Make your own food. It’s so expensive to have someone else cook for you(although it’s one less thing to worry about).  But I’d rather spend a day in the kitchen than fret about spending an arm and a leg for a turkey.

2. Shop ahead of time. There are a lot of great sales going on right now.  Head into King Sooper or Albertsons to get some great deals on turkeys this week(as low as $.35lb!).  You’ll also find yams and potatoes for cheap($.32lb for yams and $.97 for a 10lb bag of Russet potatoes at Rancho Liborio).  If you don’t shop at Rancho Liborio, bring the entire ad into Walmart or Target, and they’ll price match!

3. Cook ahead of time.  Yes, I said cook ahead of time.  Why not buy those yams and potatoes, cook them, and freeze them.  The both freeze very well.  Now all you have to do is thaw them the night before then pop them in the oven on Turkey Day.  You just saved yourself time, money, and fretting!

4. Keep decorations simple and inexpensive.  Go to the local Dollar Tree or into your backyard.  You could also have your kids help with decorations.  They may not be the most eloquent, but your kids will be thankful they got to help!

5. Don’t be afraid to let others to bring food.  This is especially important if they ask what they can bring.  Why not let them pride themselves in bringing their famous pumpkin pie?  It’ll save you a step and they’ll be happy they were able to contribute!

Do you have other solutions for saving time and money during Thanksgiving?

Let me know if you have any great deals to pass along!
