Denver Babies Take A Stand Against Toxins in Nationwide Crawl to the Capitol
Calling all babies!
Mile High Mamas is teaming up with Seventh Generation and the Bachelorette’s Trista and Ryan Sutter to participate in the Million Baby Crawl, a cause that will demand stronger protection from toxic chemicals in our homes.
Bring your children, friends and your desire to make lasting change on November 18th to Flatiron Crossing’s Nordstrom Court from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The CRAWL TO ACTION will include:
* Entertainment by local family-themed musicians and performers.
* Appearances by local dignitaries and celebrities showing support for the cause.
* A Crawl to the Capitol children’s area.
* Soapbox Photo Op area where Mom and Dad can capture their little activist taking a stand. All children will receive a “Say No to Toxins!” rally flag.
* A sign-making station where participants can make their voice heard on their own custom sign.
* The Crawler Computer station where you can join the community on www.millionbabycrawl.com.
* Rallying in support of Toxic Substances Control Act reform.
* A Season of Change mural where you can make your mark in support of the cause.
* A t-shirt- and baby-t-making station.
* Educational information about creating a healthy home.
* Free Seventh Generation product and giveaways.
Over 1.2 million kids younger than six are unintentionally poisoned in the home each year by things like cosmetics and personal care products, cleaning substances, pain relievers, and cough and cold medicines. Today, the EPA has required testing on just 200 of the more than 80,000 chemical compounds developed for products used in the home. The newly proposed policy called the Kid-Safe Chemical Act would require that industrial chemicals be safe for infants and children and new chemicals be safety tested before they are put into products; it will also require chemical manufacturers to test and prove that the untested chemicals already on the market are safe in order for them to remain in commerce and that this information is publicly available.
