Holy snow, Batman! How did you spend your snow days?

When you grow up in Canada like I did, you know and love snow.

Unless you’re my mother and just complain about it all winter long.

I took after my Arctic-weather-loving father and learned to embrace it. Winters were spent sledding the nearby gully, cross-country skiing on the golf course near our house and skating for miles on rivers and lakes.

Getting buried underneath two feet of snow last week was an unexpected surprise and brought back childhood memories of our Halloween costumes that were made to fit over our snowsuits.

Not ones to hunker down, many Mile High Mamas made their snow days a day at play. Here is a small sampling:

Kim’s little one is “helping Daddy shovel.”

Chris’ daughter Reagan took to her first snowfall like the professional snowbunny that she is.

After a week of sickness at Amy’s house, Colorado’s snow days were an awesome respite!

Laurie’s husband and three monsters noticed their snowman had an uncanny resemblance to ET, so they put a mullet wig on him to make the look-a-like complete.

Melissa’s 7-year-old daughter demonstrates you don’t need to sled down a hill when you have a slide.

Two-and-half-year old Sam enjoys playing in the snow (Laurie got 2 feet in Southmoor Park, Denver).

Oz’s toddler introduced his baby brother to the joys of snowflakes, snowsuits, red cheeks, and frozen noses.

Gwen’s little dude proves you don’t need to be at a beach to get buried.

Julie’s little stinker Gabriel (age 5) is sneaking up behind his sister Lily (age 3.5) with a snowball!

One of the advantages of having an older child: Lisa’s son Langston helped his Dad shovel the pounds of snow.

Gretchen’s son Tommy, age 7, thinks if he hides in a snowbank the school district won’t find him when snow days end.

Although the Perfectionist side of JoAnn’s psyche loved gazing upon the undisturbed blanket of snowfall, the Casual side couldn’t wait to play in it with Claire…even if it totally messed it up in the process!

Lori’s daughter gets some assistance howling at the snow.

Beckie’s kids Emma and Tommy continue to annoy each other even in the snow!

And last but not least: my little half-breeds connected to their Canadian roots by building a snow cave. I didn’t have any takers for spending the night in it.

But I’m still working on it.

How did you spend your snow days?!
