Featured Blogger: Melissa of Imagination Soup

Mile High Mamas is proud to present our next Featured Blogger:  Melissa of Imagination Soup!

How did you get started blogging?

I took a class called “Blogging Bootcamp” through Lighthouse Writers here in Denver.  My teacher made us think of an idea and start that day.  Talk about pressure!  That was my first blog, www.meltay.wordpress.com, about parenting an introverted child.
A few months later, I decided to start teaching writing classes for kids and began a blog to help parents keep their kids learning over the summer, www.imaginationsoup.net.  That blog, Imagination Soup, took off.  I contribute ideas from it here at Mile High Mamas.  My subscriptions are growing. My tag line is “Learning Activities for Inquisitive Kids.”  It combines my background as a teacher and my life as a mom and I hope, helps parents with fun and easy ideas.

What platform do you use? (I.e. Blogger, WordPress, etc.)

WordPress

What do you wish you had known when you started?

I wish I’d known to test my blog in Explorer.  It took months to realize that I needed a different theme for my blog to work in Explorer.

What blogs do you most admire?

No Time For Flash Cards and Education.com

What is your best tip for moms who are new to social media?

Jump in!  You can learn as you go.
