  Named as “One of Denver’s top spas” by 5280 magazine, this haven in the Highlands is as charming as the Victorian house in which it resides. The decor is Shabby Chic, the staffers authentic and most importantly, the massages are fabulous.

  I’ve had a few treatments and hands down, my favorite was the 60-minute Swedish massage. Then again, I talked for weeks about my rejuvenating facial. But when my husband surprised me with a luxurious couple’s massage last week? Definitely a show-stopper. Bottom line: whatever your pleasure, Indulgences Day Spa delivers and leaves you feeling, well, indulged.

• A cut and style from Scarlet Salon.
  
  I was going for ice cream with my family and stopped in my tracks when I passed the chic Scalet Salon. As if lured by the Pied Piper, I obediently marched in, professed love at first sight and found myself in hairstylist Kathy’s chair a few weeks later (this, from the woman who is queen of the $10 haircut). Rest assured after being exposed to Denver’s “grand dame” of salons, those days are no more.

  The staff was amiable without the attitude and I was sold the very moment Kathy propped my feet up and gave me a head massage as she shampooed my hair. I was delighted with the end result: she had somehow transformed my mop into a crown of ringlets. Quite befitting, given that crowns are a pervading theme of the salon. And really, who doesn’t want to be queen for a day?

• A $100 gift certificate to Morton’s Steakhouse

  
  It wasn’t the silverware nor the nifty pots and pans that had my husband salivating when we opened our wedding gifts. It was when his friend gave us a gift card to Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc., the world’s largest operator of company-owned upscale steakhouses.

  My husband’s euphoria may have had something to do with Morton’s Colossal Shrimp Alexander appetizer, but more likely due to their double-cut Filet Mignon, topped off with such indulgences as the Double Chocolate Mousse. Double the pleasure, double the yum at this delicious steakhouse.

• A Night Stay at Hotel Teatro

  
  I haven’t actually stayed at Hotel Teatro but does it count that I really, really want to? You can’t blame me. This luxury boutique hotel is not only ideally located across from the Denver Center for Performing Arts but is registered as part of the Landmark Preservation Commission.

  I attended an event held in one of the suites and was swooning over the Indonesian sandstone foyers, the contemporary art deco furniture and the luxurious down duvets. If it’s good enough to be named in Travel and Leisure’s “Top 100 Hotels in North America,” it is more than good enough for this mama.
